Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Susan Collins (R-ME) have introduced legislation that would make the Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program permanent and make numerous other changes designed to improve physician immigration procedures and increase the number of physicians working in underserved communities across the US. The bill is similar to a measure sponsored by these Senators in the last Congress as well as language included in the 2013 Senate-passed comprehensive immigration reform bill.
