The US Department of Labor’s Employment an Training Administration has issued a notice in the Federal Register outlining eligibility requirements for aliens seeking unemployment benefits.
The ETA guidance document states that States must require applicants to prove US citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or legal authorization to work. State employment agencies administering unemployment benefits make the determination of eligibility based on the findings of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) INS computer system.
