The National Network, an immigrant rights group, is reporting that the agents of the Immigration and Naturalization Service’s Border Patrol entered and arrested students at a central California high school last month. INS guidelines clearly prohibit rates at schools and churches. According to the report, the Border Patrol was called into Roosevelt High School in Fresno by a private security guard following an alleged “gang-related” dispute between students. Several students were then taken by bus to the Mexican border. After intervention from the Mexican consulate, only one student was eventually deported. The INS is not indicated yet whether it intends to take disciplinary action against the officers or even whether it considered the actions inappropriate.
