The President has signed legislation officially extending the Visa Waiver Pilot Program (“VWPP”) until April 30, 2000. Nationals from 26 countries can enter the US without a visa as long as they are coming as business or visitor visas and will not be remaining in the US for more than 90 days. Persons entering the US without a visa under the VWPP are not permitted to extend or change their status in the US.

The 26 countries participating in the VWPP are Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
