On October 11, 1996, the State Department issued a cable for all consular posts directing them to seek security advisory opinions for all Iranian nationals between the ages of 16 and 65. The rule is effective immediately and expires on the 15th of March, 1997. Expedited security checks are possible upon the request of the consulate if sufficient justification is described.
