AAO Approves EB-1 for Judo Coach Based on Prior Athletic Accomplishments

Immigration practitioners have fought USCIS for years over this issue – whether a person who has transitioned from athlete to coach should be considered to be in a new career or whether coaching is simply a new phase in a continuing career in sports. The AAO has taken the latter position in this case. The next question is whether USCIS will make this a precedent decision.
